TUCKER
Tucker was bravely rescued from a Texas kill pen by Dr. Veronika Castillo. Veronika spent years investing in a 1:1 relationship to earn his trust and allow her to care for him.
He was willing to engage, but also seemed to resist being fully domesticated, staying true to his wild roots on the Nevada range. This is not an uncommon story with Mustangs. While some take to human partnership, many others due not and thus risk being prematurely euthanized or sold to slaughter.
Veronika searched high and low for a place like ours where horses can be horses, and in Tucker’s case, now leads his own herd that is a mix of wild, domestic, and former performance horses.
She says he’s happier than she’s ever known him to be.
