MAISY
Maisy is the third horse (along with Cali and Lakota) to be placed with us by the wise, funny and generous Carol Pierce. A lifelong horsewoman through her Pennsylvania childhood, married years in Maine and grandmother days in California, Carol has rescued several horses, Maisy being the last. She has brought each back to a good life, helped them find right activity, and enjoyed a 1:1 relationship with them until they told her “it’s time for me to be just a horse in a herd.”
Maisy is a sweet and feisty “redhead” who Carol says may be part Mustang mixed with Marchador. She was started under saddle with the intention of being a hunter, and she did that for years, but it was never her niche. Once Maisy found Carol, they rode many tough trail miles together. “She is as agile and sure-footed as a mountain goat and has the endurance of Mongolian pony,” says Carol. “I think she would have excelled at competitive trail riding.”
Maisy is also loved and sponsored by Carol’s granddaughter, Maya Cary.
