Whether young or mature, girls, women, and horses just go together.  Mothers and daughters share bonds akin to mares and their fillies.  Needs for bonding and independence are tenuously balanced, often with unspoken words or unexplained behaviors.

This half-day retreat offers mothers and daughters (ages 12 to 17) a time to explore their relationship and create a vision for their upcoming year together.  Activities include:

• Equine-guided experiences with our mares and their fillies

• Mother-to-mother reflections on parenting daughters informed by mare observations and wisdom

• Daughter-to-daughter reflections on daughterhood.  What is the experience of being a daughter?

• Shared perspectives on mother and daughter joys, strengths and challenges

• Envisioning your mother + daughter relationship

$275 per mother + daughter pair, maximum 6 pairs

These are on-the-ground experiences, no horse or riding experience is needed.

Facilitators: Flag Ranch Co-Founder Kimberly Carlisle and Cate Collings, MD, both mothers of a daughter and a son. Kimberly is a Stanford graduate and Olympian in swimming; Cate, a career cardiologist, holds a Stanford medical degree and is recent president of The American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
